Operating System: Windows 10
Antivirus version: Avira Antivirus Pro 2016
In this tutorial I will demonstrate how to uninstall Avira antivirus completely from your system so that no traces are left.
Make sure you follow this guide all the way to the end, step by step, because there's a small hitch at the end.
Important: Stay protected - before you begin uninstalling, choose another antivirus software from our list and download the installation to your computer to minimize the time it remains unprotected:
Hit the Windows start button and access the Settings menu, then choose System and click Apps & Features.
Locate your installed Avira apps, but make sure you leave the Avira Launcher to be removed last.
Choose the desired app, and click Uninstall:
Click Yes on the Windows user account control prompt:
The next message might give you a fright, but fear not, simply click Uninstall despite the warning.
After all, you've already downloaded a new antivirus installation from a different company like I recommended in the beginning of this tutorial.
At this stage Avira will begin the removal process. Let it run until it's finished:
Once the removal of Avira is completed, you will have to restart your computer, so once you see this prompt, click Yes:
If you had more Avira products installed, you should repeat the process above for each until only the Avira Launcher is left.
So when you access the Apps & features menu again and you see the following, it's time to remove the Avira Launcher:
Once you click Uninstall in the window above, the Avira Launcher uninstaller will run.
Avira Launcher is being removed, give it a few minutes to finish:
Click OK when setup is finished removing the launcher app:
One more thing you should notice:
Avira installs a browser add-on when you install it, so in my case, the Chrome browser had an extension installed without even notifying me.
However, once I finished removing the launcher, Chrome opened on Avira's site asking for feedback and that's when I noticed it.
So, if you want to uninstall Avira completely, I recommend you remove the add-on/s as well.
As for the feedback, it's only up to your generosity to leave one :)
Now you're done and you uninstalled Avira completely from your computer.
Now you need to install a new antivirus software without delay; only make sure that this time it's a software which will suit your needs better.
Still didn't get a new antivirus software?
