Start installation of Avira by clicking Accept and Install

Operating System: Windows 10

Antivirus version: Avira Antivirus Pro 2016

As part of my series of software installation tutorials, in this step-by-step guide I will demonstrate how to install Avira antivirus 2016 from A to Z.

How to Install Avira Antivirus 2016:

  1. Select the Avira plan most suitable for your needs, here:

    Get Avira

  2. Run the file you downloaded, and click Accept and Install:

  3. Once prompted by Windows, confirm that you intended to run this software by clicking Yes:

  5. After the window above disappears, you will see the following screen which will show you the progress of your Avira installation.

Important: The "Install" buttons on this screen are promotions of additional Avira products which you don''t have to click, simply wait until the blue progress bar on the upper part of this window reaches the end.

If you are, however, interested in the products promoted on the installation screen, go for it, the installation won't be disturbed by it.

  6. After a few minutes you will be notified that the installation was successfully completed and you can run Avira on your computer.

    Click Start Avira:

  7. It might have been a glitch, but when I clicked the button above, the antivirus didn't run so I had to click the Avira icon in the taskbar and click the Antivirus icon in the menu that opened up.

Run Avira from the Windows taskbar

    Run Avira from the taskbar

  8. On the first run, there will be a quick update/scan process which will run for a minute or two, and prepare Avira for use:

    Avira - first run

Activating Avira for the first time

  9. Once the process above is finished, repeat step 7 and the control panel of Avira will open, ready for use:

    Avira user interface

    Avira control panel

OK, you're now done and Avira is installed.

You don't need to update Avira after you install it because it will already be up to date.

Should you not find Avira satisfactory, or if you're having second thoughts, remember that Avira offers a 30 day free trial for its paid products.

So just in case, bookmark our antivirus software reviews and try another antivirus when you need to change.
